You know that feeling when you walk into the beauty department and you look around at all the cellulite creams and you try to remember which one was supposed to be the best and then you stare at the pictures on the pack and you think – OK, my bum never, ever, ever looked like that and no cream is going to make it look like that. And then you put the box down and shuffle home again?
Well, Sian got annoyed by that whole experience and she decided to make the best darn cellulite cream it is possible to make. This has been her obsession – for two whole years she has been perfecting this formula – speaking to the leading chemists in France (because the French are just the best at tackling cellulite), talking for hours on end about adipocytes, reversing the toxin build-up, inhibiting future damage and how best to stimulate micro-circulation. We had one single focus – this product HAD to work. So here is a little summary of some of our findings that may help you understand what we are all combating.
What exactly is cellulite? This is the lowdown on cellulite – cellulite is ordinary fat that acts in an extraordinary way. It is pockets of fat which are trapped, become distended and cause dimpling in the skin. This dimpling is irregular and patchy – which is where the expression ‘orange peel’ comes from. Cellulite is not a fat person’s problem. In reality, it can be more problematic for thinner women because they have less of the smooth subcutaneous fat immediately within and beneath their skin – so the lumps and bumps are more visible. Research shows that 90% of post-adolescent women go on to develop cellulite at some time during their life – and, to be honest, we have never met anyone who fits into that lucky 10% gang.
How do I get rid of it? Absolutely key to breaking down this fat pocket distortion is to increase CIRCULATION. You increase circulation in a macro way by exercise, getting sluggish systems moving faster, helping the lymphatic toxin flushing system to work more efficiently, getting better blood flow in the problem areas. But you also need to increase circulation at a MICRO level. Shrink To Fit is totally designed to help increase circulation at a micro level.
How does Shrink To Fit work? Shrink To Fit contains very high levels of key actives that increase circulation around the trapped misshapen fat cells. Two very important ingredients are Adipoless and Adiposlim™. These are amazing new French algae-derived ingredients that break down unsightly fat clumps, improve the circulation so that the fat cell can work properly and shrink in size. Once Adiposlim™ has shrunk the fat cell it can fit back inside the skin matrix system and break down the cellulite clumps. The next ingredient, Adipoless™ is equally amazing. Adipoless actually prevents new fat cells (pre-adipocytes) from maturing into misshapen cellulite fat cells (adipocytes). In other words – these two ingredients put fat cells on a diet and then lock the fridge!
Shrink To Fit is also packed with well proven circuation boosters – caffeine (derived from guarana); laminaria digitata (the rare and extremely effective brown algae skin firmer from Brittany); Horsetail Extract; Rosemary and Green Tea – all of which stimulate and help firm your wobbly bits. Read ‘How it works’ section for more detail.
Anything else? Yes. Shrink To Fit is also very rich in Quinoa extract and Sweet Almond Oil, full of Omega 3, 6 and 9 to mega-moisturse your butt, thighs, wherever you are applying it. We wanted to make sure that your skin is not only firmer and much less bumpy, but also healthy, moisturised, nourished. Everything we make is designed to get your skin looking and feeling as FIT as possible.
More on cellulite – for the very interested only: Below the dermis lies a layer of fat, the subcutaneous fat. The depth of this layer differs from one person to another. It contains larger blood vessels and nerves, and is made up of clumps of fat-filled cells called adipose cells. The subcutaneous fat lies on the muscles and bones, to which the whole skin structure is attached by connective tissues. The attachment is quite loose, so the skin can move fairly freely. If the subcutaneous tissues fill up with too much fat the areas of attachment become more obvious and the skin cannot move as easily -this is what gives rise to the notorious cellulite Underneath the dermis and epidermis are three specific layers of fat. Cellulite tends to develop in the subcutaneous fat layers. This layer of fat is unique in its structure compared to the other layers because its fatty parts are structured into specific chambers by strands of linked tissue around it. With age there is a loss in the thickness and tone of the connective tissue in the superficial fat layer and the dermis. Unfortunately noticeable, bumpy cellulite is the result. Hormones also help out with the storage of fat along with the body's metabolism in the subcutaneous fat layer. Hormonal factors such as estrogen and folliculine also play a role in cellulite formation.
Cellulite is for the most part found in women during their hormonal changes such as puberty, pregnancy, and menopause and also whilst taking birth control pills.(Great, so that is like .. most of your life in that little list). A woman's hormones are usually responsible for the regulation of their blood flow, fat, connective tissue and lymphatic drainage.
So why do women get more cellulite than men? It is not just about hormones and diet and how we tend to store fat more on our butts and hips. There is another physiological reason. The subcutaneous fat layer in a woman is organised into large upright chambers allowing fat to be stored. In men, these chambers are organised into small slanting units. These store smaller fat quantities and are not likely to form cellulite. Cellulite's formation is a result of complex physiological changes that occur in the subcutaneous fat layer.
Regular exercise and well balanced diets do not always reverse or prevent its formation, although an unhealthy lifestyle will make the overall appearance worse over time due to poor nutrition, weight gain and lack of sufficient water intake.
So, in summary, drink more water (1.5 litres a day), go easy on caffeine and alcohol (sorry!), do vigorous exercise that really boosts macro circulation AND use Shrink To Fit, massaging in vigorously. This bit is important because the massage process really helps. OK, now lets have a little reality check – of course Shrink To Fit won’t place the hours on a treadmill and eating healthy food. But this is the very best cream we could possibly make to help you look and feel thinner, tighter and smoother.
