FAQs

All other ingredients we use in Mama Mio products are obtained from plant-derived sources.

Is Mama Mio tested on animals?

Mama Mio do not believe in animal testing and are cruelty free. We have never tested on animals and never will. Many countries have already banned this practice and we support the increasing number of countries that are making this change possible.

Are Mama Mio products gluten free?

We are here to try and make your products safe. Some of our team are coeliacs and know what to look out for, so let us give you the facts...

- Are you a coeliac? If yes, remember that there is no evidence that gluten will cause a reaction when applied externally on the skin. It is when you eat gluten that an immune response is triggered. Some of these symptoms might be visible skin reactions, but it is still down to eating it. Trust your gut.

- If your skin has reacted from contact with gluten or gluten-containing ingredients, then it is likely that you are experiencing a form of contact dermatitis. Gluten skin sensitivity is rare, so it most likely would be another ingredient. In this case, it is always worth checking with a dermatologist or GP.

But if you're still not convinced, we should point out that Mio Skincare Get Waisted Body Cream may contain gluten. All other products do not have any gluten-containing ingredients, but may be manufactured in premises where there is gluten present.

Do any of your products contain nuts or any other substance that can cause an allergic reaction?

Allergic reactions are as varied and diverse as the people who suffer from them. We try and take them into consideration, but we can't always ensure that our products will not trigger an allergic reaction.

If you are aware of a particular allergic reaction, like a nut allergy, you should look out for them in the ingredients lists that we include both on the product packaging and the website. We list all of our ingredients and the allergens which might be present in the fragrance.

If your allergy is particularly sensitive, note that we cannot always ensure that these substances were not present in the same manufacturing facilities. We follow strict procedures, but this may not be enough to ensure that your are safe from allergic reactions.

Why can’t I find an expiration date on my Mio product?

Many Mama Mio products do not require a specific expiration date as they have a shelf life in excess of 30 months from the date they were produced, providing the product has not been opened and has been stored properly. Where this is the case you will find a little symbol which looks like an open jar, together with a number and the letter M.

All products are suitable for up to six months after they have been opened, and this includes sneaking a peak, opening to see what it smells like or dipping your fingers in it to feel it or try it! After 6 months you should make sure to throw your product away.

Quick tip: if you can't remember when you last used your product, chances are it has been more than 6 months so get yourself a new one!

If you want to keep your product for some time before using it, store at room temperature and in a place with low humidity (so avoid your bathroom.)

All of our products have been assesed as safe to use after pregnancy, however pregnancy can affect people’s bodies in different ways, so you should consult with your GP or medical professional if you have any concerns related to pregnancy and breastfeeding.

What is the perfume in Mama?

Our fragrance is made from a mixture of different natural essential oils. Some man-made ingredients are added to help maintain the quality of the scent, but the smell itself is all-natural!

What is the smell found in Mama Mio’s The Tummy Rub Butter?

Most of our products contain our special fragrance Gravida (which means pregnancy in latin) which is a zingy burst of delicious citrus that reveals a woody radiant floral heart.
