Why ‘Super Foods’ Give You Super Skin During Pregnancy

Here at Mama Mio your skin is our number one concern. That means we jam-pack our formulas with the very best ingredients possible to help you achieve strong, elastic, gorgeously healthy skin. All the ingredients we use are listed on our site but big lists can be overwhelming and really who has the time to read them or understand what they mean? Below are three of our favourite ‘super foods’ right now and why they’re so fantastic for your skin.

Coconut Oil

Once you discover coconut oil it will pretty quickly become your saving grace when it comes to your skincare. Protein rich to contribute to cellular health and tissue repair, coconut oil keeps your skin healthy and rejuvenated. It is also bursting with vitamin-E which is essential for healthy skin growth, strength and repair. Super soothing and rich with Laruic acid (a powerful Omega) all these factors make Coconut Oil the ultimate super food for super skin. At mama mio we love all natural, no nasties formulas and that’s why you’ll find naturally antibacterial, skin strengthening coconut oil in a whole host of our products.

Chia Seeds

Chia means ‘strength’ in the Mayan language and Aztec warriors ate Chia seeds to give them high energy and endurance. We know that like the Aztecs, mamas to-be are warriors in their own right and we want you to be equipped to fight your skincare battles! So you’ll find Chia seed oil in our Megamama Body Lotion. Chia is rich in antioxidants ( a gram for gram of Chia packs a punch that is four times the amount of antioxidant power of blueberries.) Chia is also chocked full of protein and omegas for strong, healthy skin with a protected shield of elasticity perfect to help your skin through your nine month stretch.

Avocado

By now we are all fully aware of the avocado hype, eat it, wear it, mash it up and put it on your face. Everybody wants a piece of this years’ trendiest fruit. That being said the benefits of adding avocado to your skincare routine are real and here at mama mio we’ve known it for years. That’s why we include avocado oil in our Tummy Rub Butter, Tummy Rub Oil and Gorgeous Glow Balancing Facial Wash. Avocado’s have an abundance of vitamins and nutrients (including beta-carotene, lutein, vitamin A, B6, C, E, potassium, zinc and folic acid) to name a few.

So what does that mean? These nutrients, vitamins and healthy fats moisturise your skin to reduce any inflammation. Vitamin A contributes to removing dead skin cells and glutamines cleanse and guard skin from environmental factors. Avocado oil’s natural soothing and healing properties leave you with strong, smooth and nourished skin. Which is exactly what you want when your body is growing to accommodate another little human!
